Midi

This setup allows me to go wireless or use the new downsized power supply to go hard wired. I have a cable already connected to the new power supply. I also have to make a third connection at the midi merge. But in the event there is some kind of problem with wireless I can unplug a cord from the Synthophone , plug the other one in and I am back in business.

The Synthophone is used to change patches in the synth modules and the presets in the Synthophone. For a solo patch I like pitch bend but not when I am layering sounds. I also will use a little aftertouch to utilize some growl effect on the solo patches. The following is an example of how I set up patches in the synth modules. This tends to change quite a bit depending on what gigs I am doing.
Horn Section Sounds
The Vl70-m modules with the Turbo VL Chip allow up to 64 patches to be stored in the Internal bank. I find I actually only use about a third of these consistantly. I layer the instruments by saving them  like this.
Program #1   VL70-m1= Mbrecker  VL70-m2= none        VL-70-m= none
Program #2   VL70-m1= Mbrecker  VL70-m2= Trumpet    VL70-m=Tromb
Program #3   VL70-m1= TenorSx    VL70-m2= none         VL70-m= none
Program #4   VL70-m1= TenorSx    VL70-m2= Sanborn    VL70-m= Tromb
